Family Medicine Residency Program

The mission of the ECHN Family Medicine Residency Program is to train outstanding, capable, conscientious full spectrum family physicians through innovative and evidence based educational curriculum in a patient centered medical home. The residents we train will be leaders in their community providing care to underserved patients throughout New England.

Curriculum

PG1

13 blocks, each 4 weeks:

  • Colon & Rectal Surgery: 1 block
  • Elective: 1 block
  • Emergency Medicine: 1 block
  • Family Medicine Outpatient: 1  1/2 block
  • Gynecology: 1/2 block
  • ICU: 1 block
  • Inpatient Medicine: 2 blocks
  • NICU: 1 block
  • Night Float: 1 block
  • Obstetrics: 1 block
  • Pediatrics: 1 block (Longitudinal Rotation over two years)
  • Psychiatry: 1 block
  • Includes 1/2 day per week of Family Medicine Continuity Clinic
  • Includes 1/2 day per week of Pediatric Continuity

PG2

13 blocks, each 4 weeks:

  • Community Medicine: 1 block
  • Elective: 2 blocks
  • Emergency Medicine: 1 block
  • Family Medicine Outpatient: 2  1/2 blocks
  • Geriatrics: 1 block
  • Inpatient Medicine: 2 blocks
  • IP Pediatric Medicine (CCMC): 1 block
  • Maternity Care Clinic: 1/2 block
  • Night Float: 1 block
  • Obstetrics: 1 block
  • Includes 1 1/2 full days per week of Family Medicine Continuity Clinic
  • Includes 1/2 day per week of Pediatric Continuity

PG3

13 blocks, each 4 weeks:

  • Elective: 3 blocks
  • Family Medicine Outpatient: 3 blocks
  • Gynecology: 1 block
  • Inpatient Medicine: 1  1/2 blocks
  • Inpatient Medicine Backup: 1 block
  • Night Float: 1/2 block
  • Orthopedics: 1 block
  • Pediatrics Emergency Medicine (CCMC): 1 block
  • Practice Management: 1/2 block
  • Radiology: 1/2 block
  • Includes 2 full days per week of Family Medicine Continuity Clinic
