UNECOM Students
In 2010, ECHN partnered with the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine as a major clinical campus for its medical students. Every year, eighteen third-year medical students are hosted from the college through our member hospital, ambulatory centers and medical staff offices. The students rotate through Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Surgery and Psychiatry.
Students have expressed that working alongside residents has been helpful due to the informality of discussing patients, practicing/honing skills as well as rotation specific questions that they may not be comfortable asking their attending. The resident/student relationship is more or less a buddy system where both student and resident work together and benefit from what each individual can bring to the table.
